EagleTrader Trader Interview | Controlling Retracement is the biggest gain I learned in the exam

For many traders, trading is an option. But for traders Chen Yu, trading is more like an belonging.

In 9 years, she has not looked for methodology in the hustle and bustle, nor has she been attracted by complex strategies. She chose the most direct naked K chart and made it step by step to today with day-to-day planning and execution. After passing the EagleTrader self-operated trading exam, she chose to go full-time without hesitation to start a stage where she truly takes trading as her career.

“Because of love, I persevere,” she said.

01|You can understand the market without auxiliary indicators

In the current trading environment where various technical and systemic schools emerge one after another, naked K trading has almost become synonymous with minimalists. And this happens to be Chen Yu’s trader’s style.

She never relies on indicators, does not pay attention to fundamentals, nor does she rely on subjective judgments, and makes decisions only through the form of the price K-line. There is no shortcut to this method, it depends on the familiarity with the chart language and stable planning execution.

“I will complete the trading plan before the closing of the day before and strictly implement it the next day.” There was no random entry, and no on-site decision. A set of methods took 9 years, not blind faith, but verification.

02|Trading depends on judgment, and long-term risk control and execution. Chen Yu trader believes that a judgment may bring profit, but whether one can live in the market for a long time is still risk control and execution. Her trading pace is not radical, but it is not conservative. Of the 100-point risk tolerance, she usually only uses half of it.

“When there is a large loss, I will stop the loss manually immediately.” She admitted that she did not expect the market to “repair itself.” Similarly, if there is a profit retracement, she will decisively leave the market – “You can’t turn profits into losses again.”

There is no complex logic behind this, only one belief: observing your own rules is much more important than believing in an accident.

03|Filing out is not the end, the key is how to get back

“I’ve exploded my position, but my mentality is fine, and I can adjust it soon.”

This sentence sounds light and light, but actually reflects the trading resilience of Chen Yu’s trader.

She never avoids failure and does not beautify the trough. In her opinion, every retracement and every repair are part of the trading journey. Past experience tells her that it usually takes 1 to 2 months to recover the net value from the maximum drawdown – this is a reflection of her confidence in the system and execution.

04|Market fluctuations are not enemies, but tests of rhythm

When asked which market you prefer, her answer was: “Everyone likes it.”

From her perspective, fluctuations are not risks, but a reflection of rhythm. High volatility means that opportunities and risks coexist, while low volatility is more suitable for steadily advancing according to the trend.

She will not take the initiative to pursue the fierce market, nor will she deliberately avoid the shock range. Because she always believes that no matter how the market evolves, as long as the trading system has a rhythm, opportunities will not be absent.

05|The gain of taking the exam is “being able to control yourself”

“The biggest gain is learning to control retracement.” For a trader with nine years of experience, such an answer is not common. But Chen Yu traders always remained awake – passing the EagleTrader exam is a verification of ability and a recalibration of discipline.

This is exactly the part that many new traders are most likely to overlook. She also gave a simple advice to the newly registered EagleTrader trader: “Risk control first, execute to the end.” There is no skill sharing, no inspirational slogans, only a simple but heavy reminder.

In the trading world, some people compete for models, and some people pursue fluctuations. Chen Yu’s trader’s style is like a tributary that is not noisy, quietly flowing for nine years, and finally entering the main channel of professionalism.

She does not emphasize “big profits” or talks about “double”. She cares more about whether the next plan is implemented and whether the next stop loss will leave in time. This kind of restraint is the truly respectable offensive method.

At EagleTrader, we provide professional platforms and opportunities for traders who focus on risk control and execution like Chen Yu, helping them go further and more steadily.

If you are also on this road, please remember her sentence: “Risk control is the first, and execution is done to the end.”
